If anyone has an advanced cannon design that they are really proud of, could you post the design files here, and describe the choices you made building it?There seem to be so many options between flak, Aa, rail gun, 1-8m, minigun, Gatling, the various ammunition types, etc. I wanna see the various types in their mature form. They don't have to all be Giants. I wanna see what smaller cannons look like and if they are still effective. Thanks! Open qpw in openoffice. Please talk about the ammunition design too. My first real venture into using cannons, and ended up being mostly me messing around trying to figure out how to get three functional firing pieces next to each other; ended up putting the ammo for the middle cannon above the gauge increasers instead of below, where it's rather exposed. But I only use this frigate for the first few battles before upgrading it to the.Anyway, I wanted to use explosive shells, partially because I didn't trust the accuracy of the cannons to hit anything important with penetrating solid shots, partially because explosions are awesome.
I've been trying out solid shots more recently, but can't seem to get their kinetic damage high enough to punch through more than a handful of blocks, so my later creations have stuck with HE warheads. However, I found that the squash head (HESH) weren't as effective against Onyx Watch's metal ships as shaped charge (HEAT), even though they seemed about equal against DWG, so all my later ships ended up using HEAT ammo exclusively (except for the AA guns). But against almost all of DWG this frigate is basically all you need, even though you can afford one near the start of the campaign. The main cannon was the result of my first forays into multiple barrels on a firing piece.
Despite having only 2 firing pieces, that cannon outputs at least as much damage as both the turrets on the regular frigate, allowing me to use the space where the lower turret was for an AA gun. It also fires flare rounds intermittently, which is pretty useful in degraded mode for seeing where shells are going, and looks hella sweet! For some reason the flare rounds deal explosive damage without a HE warhead body because of their nose, even though the nose doesn't add explosive damage when a HE warhead body is present. The AA turret was the result of trying to get something that shoots high velocity rounds - not because of the damage increase from velocity, but rather to reduce how much the cannon has to lead its target, making it considerably easier to hit evasive foes like the squirrel.
It can barely do that now; used to be easier to get high velocities, but then the resulting damage was a bit much so it got nerfed. Still effective against most other fliers though, so I'm happy with it!.And just today finished my first Battleship (can't seem to post it either), which was made after realizing I had more metal than I knew what to do with after fighting the Onyx Watch.
A 500x4000mm L/50 cannon with sabot+7 propellants punches through something like five or six layers of metal beams. You can optimize it for a bit better damage with some solid warheads and base bleed, but at the cost of muzzle velocity. I really like the accuracy of the single sabot however, and the damage is sufficient so far. That said, the only ones I've employed in campaign have been on static watch towers, so recoil, volume and center of mass are non-issues.In general, KE damage and AP scale nicely as you go up in caliber, with large-caliber guns being pretty punchy so long as you're using 4m ammo racks. Depth-fuzed APHE tends to be more devastating for in-close brawling, as you can set it for 5-8m of pen, or an equivalent first-impact delay, and it will carve the internals out of ships even if the shell doesn't pass directly through the AI or magazine. Large-caliber pure KE is best for long-range, high shell velocity sniping. Haven't ventured on autoloaders longer than 1m because you can fit more of them if they're smaller. In general, i've found more barrels provide better cooling than gauge cooling units.
So particle cannons were just added to From The Depths. Hello again kaiju fans, it’s Titanollante, and today we take a look at the Millennium Mechagodzilla!Kiryu (機龍)IntroKiryu is the third incarnation of the Mechagodzilla character, first appearing in the 2002 film “Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla” and was created by Masaaki Tezuka. It stands 60 meters tall and weighs 36,000 metric tons by itself and 40,000 with its battle pack attached.Kiryu’s name comes from the japanese words Ki and Ryu, which together mean “Machine Dragon.” Kiryu's primary legal name is simply 'Mechagodzilla,' while his official designation in the films is 'MFS-3,' which is short for 'Multipurpose Fighting System Type-3.' 'Kiryu' is also trademarked by Toho, as seen in the copyright information for the game “Godzilla: Unleashed.”AppearanceKiryu, being a robot version of Godzilla, naturally shares traits with the King of the Monsters.
Kiryu’s most prominent design features are the detailed metal plates that comprise its external armor and the exposed cables at its articulation points. It sports three fin-like plates on the top of its head and bears yellow eyes with red scars below them. These scars light up when the original Godzilla’s spirit possesses the mech, and his eyes will go red if the spirit feels malevolent or will remain yellow if he is not. Kiryu may also wear a weapon attachment that latches onto its back consisting of two shoulder-mounted cannons.OriginsKiryu was created using the robotic and bio-engineering skill of scientist Tokumitsu Yuhara, who had previously worked on creating realistic trilobite replicas using the muscle structure of horseshoe crabs and a robotic exoskeleton. This attracted the attention of the JSXDF, who hired Yuhara to design an exoskeleton around the bones of the original Godzilla that was killed by the Oxygen Destroyer in 1954. The result of his work was Kiryu, nicknamed Mechagodzilla by his daughter, and it was designed to be the ultimate weapon against Godzilla.HistoryGodzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002): Following the appearance of a second Godzilla in the year 1999 in Tateyama, the JSXDF dredged up the original Godzilla’s bones from the bottom of Tokyo Bay and hired Yuhara to design a cybernetic body around them using “DNA Computers”.Kiryu was finally completed in 2003, and was sent to defeat Godzilla when he resurfaced in Hakkeijima. There the Kiryu project went horribly wrong, as when Kiryu heard Godzilla’s roar, the spirit of the original Godzilla awakened inside the mech, possessing it and going on to destroy the city of its own accord while its pilot Akane Yashiro was helpless to stop it.
It continued to wreak havoc on the city until its fuel was depleted and it had to be airlifted back to its dock. With Kiryu undergoing extensive reworking to avoid a similar occurrence in the future, the JSXDF attempted to defeat Godzilla without it, but were ultimately unsuccessful, and ended up bringing Kiryu back onto the field. Kiryu battled Godzilla until its receiver was damaged, forcing its pilot Yashiro to enter the manual control room inside its head. Yashiro quickly decided to use Kiryu’s ultimate weapon, the Absolute Zero Cannon. While Kiryu’s final move did not destroy Godzilla, it was enough to drive him back into the ocean, while Yashiro watched from the now energy-depleted Kiryu’s shoulder.Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. (2003): After a year of repairs and having its Absolute Zero Cannon removed, the improved “Modified Type-3 Kiryu” was nearing completion. However, around that time, Mothra and her priestesses, the Shobijin, came to Japan and declared Kiryu’s cyborg structure an abomination whose existence was attracting the thing it was built to repel: Godzilla.
They demanded that Kiryu be destroyed in exchange for Mothra taking over its place as Japan’s defender but the government declined, remembering that Mothra had once attacked Japan in 1961, which was an event that led to Kiryu’s creation. Shortly afterward, Godzilla appeared, Mothra going in to battle him, followed shortly by Kiryu.Despite their combined efforts, Mothra was killed and Kiryu’s transmitter was once again damaged, causing Kiryu’s chief engineer Yoshito Chujo to go inside it for repairs. After these were complete, Godzilla attacked Kiryu and damaged the exit hatches on Kiryu, trapping Chujo inside. Kiryu was then able to drive his new drill attachment into Godzilla’s chest and electrocute him with the masers that had replaced its Absolute Zero Cannon.

Godzilla’s screams of pain triggered a flashback in Kiryu to when it was a Godzilla, but it did not last long as Mothra’s twin larvae wrapped Godzilla in their silk, keeping him from fighting back. Kiryu then received commands to terminate Godzilla, but it disobeyed and carried him out to sea, where it released Chujo to safety before displaying the message “Sayonara Yoshito” on one of its monitors. Kiryu then released Godzilla into the water and allowed itself to sink to the bottom.AbilitiesAbsolute Zero Weapon: Kiryu’s Absolute Zero Weapon, built into its chest, fires a beam which brings its target to the lowest theoretical temperature in existence: 0 degrees Kelvin, or Absolute Zero, at which point the atoms affected would cease all movement.
Kiryu was able to cause entire buildings to disintegrate with this attack.
From The Depths is a voxel-based 3D vehicle combat/real-time strategy/simulator made by Brilliant Skies Ltd. That is currently in open alpha.
It has similarities between other voxel-based custom vehicle games like, and other similar games. The goal of the game is to an array of vehicles using the 250+ components provided by the game. Players can build anything from, aircraft carriers, battleships, helicopters, and even land-based vehicles. The player not only designs the vehicles, but also the equipment, like the AI for the vehicle note if any is used, engines, and weapons it uses. The game provides some prefabricated vehicles and weapons, but it is far more effective for the players to design and build their own weapon systems. From The Depths uses a physics engine, so players have to take into account not only the constant pull of gravity, but other forces as well, such as drag from water and air against certain surfaces. The vehicle's center of mass and balance also has to be accounted for otherwise players designs may tip or flip over when the engines are turned on. The various blocks not only have various shapes note Square, sloped, etc., but also come with their own unique properties.
Other factors like fuel, ammo, buoyancy, and weight matter as well. The players have to tweak their designs to get the best performance possible accounting for the various factors involved. It currently has five general weapon categories that loosely break down into other weapon types:, and a melee-type weapon set. All the sets are customizable, and require the player to build them according to what they want the weapons to do. The missile category currently includes torpedoes, bombs, rockets, and depth charges. While the launch mechanisms are relatively simple and compact (making them easy to ), the missiles themselves are hard to set up and easily intercepted. CRAM cannons are massive mortars which slowly fire slow projectiles capable of dealing massive damage and are effective against deflector shields. Advanced Cannons are than CRAM cannons, but they make up for this with versatility., and are all fair game.

Like missiles, they require custom ammunition. include precise, that become more inaccurate at long range but use multiple damage types note such as impact or piercing, and laser defenses to destroy those pesky missiles. Melee weapons include, smashing arms and even and.It also currently offers four game modes for players to choose from. The first is the which allows players to design, build, and test their vehicles in a controlled environment with infinite resources. This allows the players to endlessly tweak their designs or create new ones from scratch.
They can also pit them against any of the game's factions under AI control, or even design their own opponents. The designs made in this mode can be blueprinted for later use in the other two modes. The second mode is story mode.
Story mode is currently a limited set of missions designed to challenge the player. The game mode limits players to a certain amount of resources, and often requires that at least one vehicle contain a heartstone block. The heartstone block keeps the player's character alive, so if your ship gets too badly damaged it runs out of energy and the player slowly dies off. The missions are usually built around certain factions in the game. You also have limited resources, so creations made in Sandbox mode cannot be built outside of the limited resource pool provided for in each mission. The third mode is adventure mode. The players get a starter ship and some resources, and they must navigate the world searching for warp zones and portals that change the difficulty while fighting enemies.
The main difference from Campaign is that you are heavily encouraged to build only one ship that you constantly improve as you go through higher difficulty zones. The last mode is the Campaign mode, where the player is for called Neter note or a custom campaign world. Players are put into a conquest-style map on top of a resource zone as their starting point. The themed AI factions occupy various other locations on the world map and the player can choose who to take on and with what units. The player's forces must conquer territories and, allowing them to expand their influence and build increasingly more complex and powerful vehicles. The general goal of the campaign mode is to.
This mode also limits players' resources by how much they can gather from various resource points. The more points the player harvests from, the more quickly the various resource stores are built up. Similar to Story mode, even if a player has a mighty ship design, if they are lacking in any of the core resources. The game is in open alpha but is regularly updated and changed by the developers who are active in the communities in general. The game can be bought through or Games Rocket. It has two general communities split between the main website and Steam, with the developers and experienced players more active on the original website. This game is an active Alpha work in progress. The game is likely to continue to change on a regular basis and page content may change to reflect that. From The Depths provides examples of:.: Advanced Cannons have noticeably lower muzzle velocity than real cannons of the same specifications to prevent cannons from becoming nigh-hitscan high explosive death-lobbers like they are in real life.
A purpose-built munition can achieve stupendous speeds, but must have little in the way of payload in order to do so.: A few AI faction airships, such as the Deepwater Guard's Barracuda, are accompanied by sub-vehicles. Players can construct some of their own.: coexist with and airborne battleships. A player that focuses more on capturing enemy vessels than building their own can command all of the above at once.: note Commanders Are They?; while the player, the enemy factions fit into rough categories. A key aspect of Campaign mode is learning how to counter the other factions' strategies. The is a combined Generalist/Pariah faction.
They have with at least one craft in every category, but they have. In addition, the player starts out with a few that follow the Deepwater Guard's design philosophy. The is a Turtle/Unit Specialist faction with huge guns (or ),. They only have one aircraft (the Eyrie airship) and no submarines.
The are a Gimmick/Ranger faction focused on with. What they lack in subtlety and firepower, they make up for in. The is an odd combination of Spammer and Elitist, with clear divides between their, the, and a few for good measure.
The are a Ranger faction with a on. They use lasers like other factions would use conventional guns. The are Generalists through and through, using relatively realistic combined-arms tactics. They have a ship, airplane, or submarine for just about any purpose. The are a Unit Specialist faction with no actual boats; instead, they rely on a huge fleet of airships and thrustercraft to rain on anyone that doesn't have good aircraft or weapons of their own. Finally, the is a Elitist faction. Unlike the Grey Talons, they do have a surface fleet (mostly made of hovercraft), but their real specialty is high-altitude aerospace weapons like and.: The AI has few options for dealing with.
While some factions have anti-orbital weapon platforms, they are rare until you encounter the Tier 3 factions like the Scarlet Dawn. Until then, a laser platform 1 kilometer up can handily defeat any enemy fleet.: A number of smaller ships and medium aircraft used by the AI enemies require the player to be sealed into the cockpit—.:. The AI's default collision avoidance settings often leaves much to be desired often colliding with each other mid air or the players vehicles as they fly around. Damaged craft can behave even more erratically as the AI fights to control the craft. Particle Cannon From The Depths Lyrics
Watercraft can move across land - at a greatly reduced rate - when pulled out of play. If given a target on the other side of a mountain range, they will scale the mountain if it's faster than following the coast.
